Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out our website. I want to tell you a little about who I am. All that I am is simply because of God's rich grace in my life.
I am so thankful for the family God placed me in. I grew up in a home where Jesus was first. My late father pastored a few small churches here in Wayne County, and he lived out what he was preaching. I remember as a child realizing that I was the only person in my family that wasn't saved, and that scared me to death. When I was 6 years old, my parents led me to the Lord. I understood the condition of my sinful life and that Jesus had died for my sins and rose again the 3rd day. My life has never been the same.
Fast forward 10 years when my father was director of GPA Youth Missions, a group that organizes and leads short term mission trips for teens and young adults. I decided to go on my first mission trip to a foreign field. It was there in Costa Rica that God began to speak to me about ministry. I publicly surrendered my life to whatever God wanted me to do, but for several years I ran away from what I was supposed to be doing.
After a year at Marshall studying Criminal Justice, I ended up at Pensacola Christian College. I knew that God wanted me in the ministry, but I went with an undeclared major. After 2 semesters, I left PCC, but I had met the most beautiful girl in the world there. For some reason, she found this redneck from West Virginia cute.
Long story short, we got married on December 10, 2005, and that was the 2nd best decision I've ever made right behind receiving Christ. It wasn't long after getting married, God began using me in ministry. I started preaching at our home church, a local homeless mission, and a couple of nursing homes.
In 2007, my father had a massive heart attack and for 2 years he suffered in a comatose state. It was then that God really was moving me to surrender to full-time service. After much prayer and struggle, I stepped into my father's role of GPA Youth Missions Director. Angie and I have led many mission trips over the past 10+ years all over the world.
I became pastor of Burlington Baptist Church in South Point, OH in 2014, and I served there for 4 years before the Lord called me to FIMBC Kenova. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as pastor of such a loving and caring church here in Kenova. Our church family truly cares for people.
Along the way, God has blessed Angie and me with 3 children, Grace, James, and Silas.
